“Gone Feral, Be Back Soon” - Dec 23

“Gone Feral, Be Back Soon”

Exhibition by contemporary textile artist, Imogen Sophia.

Exhibition dates: 8th Dec 23 - 8th Feb 24

Imogen Sophia primarily designs otherworldly characters and brings them to life as soft sculptures, plush toys and wearable art. Alongside this work she also generates work based around feminist, gender positive, body positive, queer and anatomical themes.

"I want to make the world around me soft, silly, and sincere because that's how it is in my dreams."

The world can be a hard and dark place, so Imogen sees it as her personal mission to make it a little fluffier and brighter. To her, comfort, joy and childlike wonder are of the utmost importance and her artwork expresses this through colour, texture, shape and character. The exhibited body of work comprises of pieces from a variety of separate projects from recent years, each piece stitched entirely by hand.

As part of this exhibition, Imogen ran a series of stitching workshops to make our own artwork inspired by her creative practice. These workshops were a way of encouraging creativity for people who identity as women in a safe space to empower each other and learn to make something new.
