PROTO Artist Social / Latent Spaces
A collaboration created between SEESAW and arts organisation FutureEverything, as part of Oxford Road Corridor’s Cultural Welcome.
PROTO Artist Social is an artist networking event designed to bring creatives together to connect, share practice, and hear from musicians and artists working across experimental sound and digital culture, and exploring new approaches to audio and performance.
This event was part of the Oxford Road Corridor’s Cultural Welcome to connect students to the venues along the corridor - a series of free events designed to help audiences discover Manchester’s vibrant creative communities.
Providing a soundtrack to the night was Polish selector Kacper Pieta, a DJ and radio presenter, whose session featured Jazz Funk, City Pop, Brazilian disco, Soulful House and the funkiest cuts from his native Poland. His carefully crafted set that has taken him everywhere from Japan, Australia and Spain to some of the most respected venues and festivals around the UK.
Hulme-based sound and electronic media artist Vicky Clarke featured presentations of new work with live audio visual demonstrations. Producing music under the moniker SONAMB, her work explores materiality, electrical phenomena and ritual. Following the Artist Social, Vicky went on to host Latent Spaces, an exhibition of new work featuring a live AV demo of electronic interfaces and circuits.
